PINAYUHAN ni Sena­dor Panfilo Lacson si Sen. Manny Pacquiao na huwag madaliin ang pagboto sa death penalty dahil maaaring mawala sa plenaryo ang nasabing proposal.

“Kung ako si Senator Pacquiao, ma­ngangapa muna ako kung ilan ang makukuha kong boto. Sapat ba ‘yun para maipasa ‘yung Death Penalty Bill?” ani Lacson,  isa sa mga author ng death penalty sa Senado.

Napili si Pacquiao na pa­ngunahan ang discussion sa death penalty proposal bi­lang chairman of a subcom­mittee.

Ang Death Penalty Bill ay ini-refer sa Senate Justice and Human Rights Com­mittee na pinangungunahan ni Sen. Richard Gor­don na tutol sa panuntunan nito.

Ayon kay Lacson, sasa­yangin lang umano ni Pac­quiao ang kanyang oras kung ipipilit nito ang botohan.

“Base sa pakikipag-usap, informally, talagang hirap ‘yung ilan — hindi ma­kakakuha ng required num­bers para maipasa ‘yung Death Penalty Bill dito sa Senate,” ani Lacson.


“Lalabas parang waste of time. Instead mag-tackle kami ng bills na makaka­lusot, eh, ita-tackle na alam nating pagdating ng  boto­han ay matatalo, eh, ‘di si­nayang mo ‘yung time na ‘yun,” dagdag pa ni Lacson.
